Saigon Bridge 2 commenced construction in April 2012 and was completed in October 2013, with a construction period of 18 months. The project was invested with a budget of nearly VND 1,500 billion. The bridge is designed with a total length of 987 meters, a width of 23.5 meters, and 5 traffic lanes. It has a projected lifespan of up to 100 years and is capable of withstanding earthquakes of magnitude 7.
The bridge is located on the route connecting Dien Bien Phu Street (Bình Thạnh District) and Hanoi Highway (District 2, now part of Thu Duc City), serving as a gateway that links Ho Chi Minh City with the Southeastern provinces, and further to Central and Northern Vietnam.
Saigon Bridge 2 was constructed to alleviate congestion at the city’s gateway and to synchronize with the Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien Metro Line project and the Hanoi Highway expansion project.
